The McClung Museum’s 8th annual Civil War Lecture series, given by Civil War Curator Joan Markel, will be held at 2 p.m. one Sunday each month, January–April 2018 in the McClung Museum Auditorium. The lectures are free and open to the public.

This month’s lecture is “South of the River: Developments in Knoxville’s Historic Preservation Efforts.” Recent preservation efforts at Fort Dickerson, Fort Higley, and the Battle Field Loop section of the Urban Wilderness solidify and highlight events of 1861–1865 on the south side of the Tennessee River in Knoxville.
