Brianne Wright

Community History Award: Wright has gone above and beyond her duties as City of Kingsport Archivist to engage the community in celebrating the City of Kingsport’s Centennial. She provided photos and information to news outlets, published a book, writes a weekly newspaper column, “Out of the Archives,” and organized photo exhibits. She is currently partnering with the city school system and ETSU to produce an exhibit on the history of education in Kingsport.

Award of Distinction:  Major events and everyday happenings define the character and history of a city. The book On This Day in Kingsport History captures the life of this city through selected stories, one for each day of the year, from its 1822 founding to 2015. The entries were recorded and aired each day on local radio. Ms. Wright is Kingsport City Archivist.
