Joe Ben Turner

Honorary Board Member

A  Texas native and a Texas Tech University graduate, Joe Ben Turner has been in Tennessee for 50 years, 47 of those in Knoxville.  He is retired as president and CEO of Willis Carroon Insurance, where he still serves as an advisor in the Knoxville office.  Joe has a keen interest in East Tennessee history and has been involved with ETHS as a regional vice president and on the board of directors.  In addition, he serves on the boards of Covenant Health, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Human Resources Ministry.  The Knoxville Zoo, Leadership Knoxville, Greater Smoky Mountain Boys Scouts of America, East Tennessee Heart Association, Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation Board, and the Bearden Lions Club are among the more than two dozen boards that have benefited from his service.  An avid golfer, Joe Ben is married to the former Robin Carruth of Mississippi, and they have a son Joel H. Turner.
