Award of Distinction

“Readmission Day 2016,” held July 24, celebrated the 150th anniversary of Tennessee’s readmission to the Union. Held at the grave of Governor William G. “Parson” Brownlow, Old Gray Cemetery, Knoxville, the event featured re-enactors, speeches, period music and costume, military ceremony, and a memorializing of Brownlow’s efforts and others who gave their lives to preserve the union.
